Festival Season 2024

Photographs from my 2024 festival season in Switzerland, a year focused on improving both technically and photographically while taking on more events and larger assignments.

In 2024, I wanted to take festival photography a bit more seriously and improve the quality of the work in every sense.

Part of that was technical. I started using a fisheye lens, experimented more with different camera and flash settings, and generally tried to understand better what worked in difficult festival conditions. But I also wanted the photographs themselves to become more varied and more considered, not just technically cleaner.

I was also getting more requests to photograph events that year, which I was really happy about. It felt good that people were starting to trust me with the work, and being able to photograph well-known DJs and performers felt like another small step forward.

By the end of the season I could see that I had improved. At the same time, I still wasn't completely satisfied with the work, which I eventually started to see as a normal part of getting better. Every improvement mostly made me notice the next thing I wanted to work on.

Around that time I was already preparing for my Camino the following year, so festival photography was starting to move a little into the background. I didn't make many plans for the 2025 season and knew that my attention would probably be somewhere else for a while.

This gallery is a collection of photographs from that 2024 festival season.

I approach long-term projects as open studies of identity, place, and human experience. I’m curious about the patterns we share and the details that make us unique, the way expressions, posture, environment, and movement can tell parts of our stories.

My work combines observation, technical experimentation, and a genuine interest in the people and contexts I photograph. Whether I’m working with portraits or with the surrounding world, I try to create images that are both aesthetically refined and connected to simple questions with complex answers: Where do we come from? How do we shape each other? And what traces do we leave behind?
