CAMINO: FIELDS

This project explores the landscapes that accompanied me along the Camino de Santiago – endless fields of green beneath a shifting sky. At first they appeared repetitive, almost identical, but with every passing day I began to notice their quiet nuances: the shape of a hill, the rhythm of the crops, the changing textures of wind and light.
Of course, there were many other types of landscapes along the way, but I chose to focus on these repeating fields – to find the most similar scenes and explore how small differences emerge within them. I photographed the fields as I encountered them – while walking, resting, or simply pausing to breathe. The Camino teaches you to slow down, and in that slower rhythm the landscapes reveal their character: moments of calm, moments of storm, and moments where the sky feels close enough to touch. These fields are not just backgrounds to the walk; they are companions, shaping its atmosphere and emotional tone.
Each image reflects both repetition and transformation, showing how nature shifts in small, almost imperceptible ways. Over time, the fields become a meditation on endurance, stillness, and the quiet beauty found in walking the same path day after day, yet never seeing it the same way twice.

Repetition
Repeating landscapes settle the mind. The sameness becomes a rhythm, slowing thoughts and creating a quiet inner pace.
Small differences
When everything looks similar, the smallest change becomes meaningful. The eye sharpens, the mind becomes more attentive, more present.
Fields
Open fields act like open space in the mind – wide, calm, steady. They soften tension and invite reflection without forcing it.
Green and blue
Green grounds you; blue expands you. Together they balance the mind: one stabilizes, the other opens a sense of clarity and spaciousness.
Tools and Methods
Captured with the Sony A7IV and Sony FE 20-70mm F4 G zoom lens, using a variable ND filter.
Consistency Through Color & Atmosphere
A unified palette of greens and blues builds visual harmony across the series.
The vibrant editing enhances the natural contrast between land and sky, emphasizing mood rather than dramatic effects.
Wide Perspective / Landscape Ratio
Most images are composed in a wide landscape format.
This framing highlights spaciousness and repetition, letting the fields stretch across the frame as a continuous visual rhythm.
Natural Light, Open-Sky Conditions
The scenes rely entirely on available light – soft, diffused mornings or bright daylight under open skies.
This maintains authenticity and preserves the natural tones that define the series.
Repetition Through Distance & Angle
The camera is often placed at a similar distance and height, creating a repeating perspective.
This consistency makes small variations in the fields, the sky, and the light more noticeable and more meaningful.
Clarity, Sharpness & Vibrant Rendering
The editing leans toward clean, vibrant color reproduction and crisp detail.
Rather than chasing dramatic sunsets or stylized effects, the focus remains on the purity of the landscape.
