About Me
Hi, I’m David – a portrait and event photographer from Hungary, now living in Switzerland.
I discovered my passion for photography during my school years in the early 2010s. Although I initially pursued construction studies (earning my vocational certificate in 2013), I soon realized that it was’nt the career I meant for and my true calling lay elsewhere. I moved to Switzerland in 2015 to follow a different path.
Over time, I began seeking creative challenges. Connecting with people, and capturing their emotions, stories, and raw essence, has always been a bit hard for me and I was sure that overcoming my challenges could be particularly rewarding. I shifted my focus from inanimate subjects and landscapes to capturing the emotions, stories, and personalities reflected in human faces and bodies.
Determined to excel in portrait photography, I formally honed my craft and passed the photography exam in 2022. This journey has taught me a great deal about technique, visual storytelling, and the history of photography—and I know there’s still much to learn.
This new chapter is brimming with fresh adventures, enriching experiences, and challenges I never imagined – challenges that remind me how courage truly pays off. I warmly invite you to join me on this journey.
About my Work
The best portraits emerge from genuine connections. From our first conversation to the final result, I strive to create an inspiring atmosphere where creativity can flourish. My process blends careful planning with the spontaneity of the moment, allowing every portrait to speak its own truth.
Most of my work consists of black and white portraits in minimalist settings with simple lighting. I focus on the interplay of light and shadow, which I find far more compelling than the emotional impact of color. While color can enhance an image, I often feel it detracts from the pure essence of a photograph. In monochrome, shadows and highlights take center stage. That said, color can carry important information, and for certain projects, it becomes essential. On rare occasions, I even build entire portrait series around the use of color.
Photoshop is an incredible tool for photographers, and I use it primarily to make bold, transformative edits to certain portraits. Altering or concealing parts of the face can add profound meaning, as the face holds so much—it’s where our senses and our mind converge to interpret the world. I love diving into these creative explorations, so if you’re interested in collaborating on such a project, don’t hesitate to reach out.
